Joint Injections
SERVICES
What are joint injections?
A steroid or cortisone injection is an anti-inflammatory which is used to treat pain. The medication is injected directly into the lesion for maximal effectiveness. The procedure itself takes a few seconds and many are surprised how painless it is. It takes between 2-3 days to take affect and continues to work for the next 6 weeks or so. Each person and condition is different but injections can last between 3-6 months on average but a lot longer if used in conjunction with physiotherapy.
Hyaluronic acid injections work by reducing the friction in a joint and providing some level of cushioning. It is a natural product which has much fewer side effects than steroid injections and no known interactions with any other drugs. It takes longer to work but can last up to 12-18 months. There is growing evidence that it can be very effective in treating arthritis in the knee, there is some emerging evidence for the shoulder joint also.
What is it used for?
- Osteoarthritis
- Inflamed tendons
- Bursitis
- Cartilage damage

What Our Patients Says
Emma Lafferty2023-04-22I have seen Jasmine twice now, she is excellent at what she does, friendly and very knowledgeable.James McManus (MrJamesMcManus)2023-04-19Had a long lasting knee injury for around 6 months, never done physio before and after 3 sessions my knee is pretty much back to normal. 1 or 2 sessions to go. They identified what was wrong really quickly, providing treatment to help recovery and also provided me with stretches and exercise to do at home. If you’ve got a little niggle or pain just go and get it checked out by them. Service has been incredible. Jasmine has been amazing at identifying my injury and giving me advice on keeping up training whilst still recovering.Ali Kadir2023-04-19The treatment I was given and the guidance by Jasmine was excellent. I have been suffering with a shoulder injury for some time now and Tom was great at performing relevant treatments and exercises to ease the pain and hopefully treat over time. I would 100% recommended paying them a visit if you’re suffering with sports related injuries.Ben Griffiths2023-04-17Went in barely able to stand up as I had managed to put my back out (irritation of the facet joint). I was panicking as I needed to work with some heavy lifting over the following few days. I asked Jasmine if she could do anything and she worked a miracle! Treatment was a mixture of ultrasound, deep tissue massage and TENS, and the following day I was plaster-boarding a ceiling!Nigel Nimmo2023-04-12I have been treated by Jasmine for a muscular injury to my back She was very professional and sorted out my problem within 3 visits The whole team are very friendly and I have recommended them to a couple of friendslucy ward2023-04-04Excellent Physio. Tom has been my Physio for Two years. I have L5 S1 Disc Degeneration and he certainly works some magic on every visit. After being on the NHS waiting list and just given a list of exercises I was getting no relief. One visit to Tom and his acupuncture needles I was hooked. He took the time to show me on a model exactly what was going on in my spine to give me a better and clearer understanding. Visited his new practice yesterday and wow. Beautiful relaxed atmosphere, done to a very high standard. If you’re in pain then go and see Tom you won’t regret. Credit where credits due.Google rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 120 reviews
